Since I don’t have a Netflix subscription and prefer to watch films from before ca. 2010 this describes my reaction pretty accurately.

Football@sopuli.xyz•World Cup Pride Match in Seattle will feature… Egypt and Iran. Say what?
3·8 days agoOh the irony… Then again, it’s FIFA, so I’ll give it a 10% chance of actually happening.

Football@sopuli.xyz•Mohamed Salah: Is there a way back for Egyptian at Liverpool?
2·8 days agoIn all honesty, this felt like the end of the road. I’d be surprised if he didn’t move abroad, probably to Saudi Arabia, soon.

1·15 days agoI feel like football is becoming more and more like the North American imposter that goes by the same name. A few seconds of open play, followed by minutes of refereeing.

Football@sopuli.xyz•Bayern fans with a banner today after Uli Hoeneß' called to abolish the 50+1 rule: "Uli, when will it finally be clear to you... Football in Germany is unimaginable without 50+1!"
7·16 days ago50+1 is THE cornerstone of German professional football. It’s the reason the average attendance is hovering around 40k per game while ticket prices have remained reasonable.

Football@sopuli.xyz•Cristiano Ronaldo red card: Why has Fifa suspended World Cup ban?
2·17 days agoBecause FIFA is corrupt. I thought that was common knowledge at this point?

Football@sopuli.xyz•[Post Match Thread] Sunderland 3-2 Brentford
2·17 days agoSunderland look really solid. It would be hilarious if they managed to end up higher in the final table than Newcastle United. I remember Newcastle fans gloating when their “club” was bought by the state that enjoys dismembering journalists with bone saws in consulates.

Football@sopuli.xyz•Champions League current standings - who do you think will win?
1·19 days agoWith Arsenal looking very solid against previously unbeaten Bayern, it’s hard to discount them as amongst the favourites this year. Then again last season’s eventual winners just scraped by the first stage of the competition and still won it. In my opinion the league stage is largely unimportant and should be skipped. Just start with the real tournament directly and give the players a break every once in a while.

As a Dutchman living in Germany I understand that feeling. Germany too is a very cash heavy society. With that comes widespread tax evasion. Anyone who has ever hired a contractor for any repairs around the house will know the question: with or without invoice? It’s the same for any restaurant. More often than not the card payment terminal will be “out of order” right now, but cash is welcome.

Football@sopuli.xyz•Premier League: How Nottingham Forest tactically exposed Liverpool
1·21 days agoThis just illustrates what an incredible squad Klopp left behind that it was able to win the title without any changes. Additionally we don’t know how big the lasting effect of the lasting effect of losing Diogo Jota might still be in that dressing room.

Football@sopuli.xyz•Premier League: How Nottingham Forest tactically exposed Liverpool
3·22 days agoA fully deserved victory for Forest over a Liverpool side that looks nowhere near the form of last season. Honestly, Liverpool might be lucky to finish in the top four this season.
Oman is an impressive country. Although it is most definitely not an island, it almost feels like one. Historically Oman was surrounded by an inhospitable desert and therefore looked outward at the sea. Omani influence can still be seen all over the coast of eastern Africa.
It’s obviously a relative measurement, but I find it impressive that Czechia is on the same level as Norway, given that the former just elected an oligarch for PM for the second time and the latter is often held up as a shining example of a country getting things right.

Parenting@lemmy.world•After unprecedented autism-vaccine messaging change, scientists, advocates say CDC no longer trustworthy
1·23 days agoUS Government sources in general should not be trusted in my opinion. The scientific basis and independence of all agencies of that government have been seriously eroded and should therefore never be taken at face value without verification from trustworthy sources.

Das ist ein gutes Beispiel. Dafür gibt es ja die offiziellen Kanäle für Petitionen, die auch zum Erfolg führen können.
