You don’t have to read everything posted over the entire history of the forum. Old threads are kept so that when you need information they contain, you can find them with search, not with the expectation that new people are going to read all of them before posting.
Personally, I would be irritated to be signed up for an instance I didn’t choose and may not be what I like, especially if the app hid the fact that I had a choice.
I’m not so sure that it is an edge case. I’m just an average person. I’m sure there are many people who have reason to receive and/or save much larger volumes of email than I do. Regardless, it’s always better to have software that works well under a wide range of circumstances.
What I’m thinking about is more that in Linux, it’s common to access URLs directly from the terminal for various purposes, instead of using a browser.
I thought Mojeek used its own engine, and I know Yacy does.
I felt weird about it when my dad used this 23andMe service. He was very privacy-conscious, so it was uncharacteristic for him. Now he’s dead. I wonder if there’s still any way to get it deleted.
Librewolf updates follow FF updates pretty quickly. Arkenfox settings haven’t changed much in a long time, so I don’t see that as an issue, personally.
So if you try to access a website using this technology via terminal, what happens? The connection fails?
Sylpheed has all the features I would expect an email client to have, and they all work. No reason to change anything, unless email as a technology changes, or it stops building.
Sylpheed handles large amounts of email much better. It’s fast even at 50k plus emails. Last time I tried Claws Mail, it choked on that.

My hate comes from wanting it to work like LView Pro. There’s no Linux image manipulation program that comes close to meeting the standard they set in 2001.
Switching from QWERTY to Colemak on my phone was effortless, just installed it and started using it easily. Using QWERTY on my bf’s phone feels awkward now, even though I use it every day with my computer keyboard. They definitely seem to occupy different mental spaces.
FlorisBoard has Colemak and swiping with predictions.
And the ability to switch browser engines on the fly. That was a great feature.
