Everything would get overrun by fake users and no one would feel like they’re really interacting with real people -even if they are- because all the trust would be gone. It’s just not worth it.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•How is nobody talking about the fact that The Simpsons Arcade Game got home ports to DOS and Commodore 64 but not NES, SNES or Genesis -- and didn't arrive on console until Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3?English
1·8 months agoIt’s very similar to a clickbait article. I mean, it worked because I clicked on it to see what people said, but man, that title is super corporate.

News@lemmy.world•Man burns 100 Beachwood Public Library books on Jewish, African American, LGBTQ+ education: report
0·8 months agoHopefully they charge him the value of each of the 100 books on top of whatever criminal charges he would get for damaging library property. That should be over $1,000 just because of the sheer amount of books.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Meta Reportedly Lays Off At Least 100 Employees From Its VR DivisionEnglish
3·9 months agoFacebook is both anti-privacy and also doesn’t believe in much moderation, both of which make VR dangerous if an entire family uses it. I don’t believe VR should be something only adults can use, but there needs to be some really good moderation. Otherwise it would just be overrun by sexual predators and edgelords.
Bunnicula got him.
I’ve seen ones that were custom painted and they look significantly better. It doesn’t stop them from being dumpsters on wheels, but at least they look finished.

politics @lemmy.world•RFK Jr. set to launch disease registry tracking autistic people
19·9 months agoThey don’t even have to kill anyone on purpose. They just have to force people to undergo experimental autism cures, which have historically killed patients. An example of this would be chelation therapy, aka using the medication used to remove heavy metals from the body under the (unconfirmed) assumption that autism is caused by heavy metals.
If a database is good enough to connect pharmacy records, medical records, and even health info from smart watches (which a doctor or insurance company would not have access to) then it would need to link patient info together in a way that’s not as anonymous as they claim it to be. Theoretically, this could be enough information to force someone into doing these experimental treatments in order to keep their driver’s license (even if they’re otherwise high functioning enough to not be hospitalized) or force someone to be hospitalized with promises of being taught to be more independent later down the line.
A company’s phone bot actually able to answer my questions properly? I’ve never seen it happen. You gotta scream the word “representative” multiple times or else it would put you through loops of utter nonsense. You can’t say it at a polite volume or else it will ignore it. You can’t just say it once because it will “argue” with you that it knows how to do things faster, which is never really the case.
