I mean, it was always there but

damn if there hasn’t been extra pressure in the world to not show any “weakness”, is the only way I can describe it.

I see this a lot in my own surroundings, in a lot of seemingly well meaning individuals, who have a history of critiquing both the ultra rich and the ignorant poor.

Ironically they themselves have now become tiny dragons who hoard their own wealth for the purposes of indulging in decadence, for in their own words, the world has betrayed them and now it’s their time to betray the world.

It’s been illuminating for me to watch some of the people I know who seem to have decent politics reveal that they have no empathy or morals, while others I would have written off politically are genuinely caring people who can be reached with the right message

Redirecting alienation and rage at our nonfunctioning society away from class solidarity and into this attitude has been the most successful propaganda campaign in the history of the world. This kind of “fuck you, every man for himself” attitude even from the people who recognize the harm the current system is doing to them has been an amazing boon to the bourgeoisie.

Yeah Gladly I was never officially documented as autistic, but I am still struggling and with the decline of living standards most people are kinda turning on each other and hating on everyone “less able”. It feels like 2h before midnight, kinda like waiting for the walls to finally close in.

Agreed. Its very disheartening. My center-left liberal family is generally well-intentioned but they have their moments that really display that the progressive viewpoints are entirely oppositional theatrics and not genuine ethical value.

Big one that stands out for me was my retired silicon valley aunt coming to visit, and took us out to a fancy restaurant. I told her how I had been helping out my neighbors who live in a few tents in the park next to us. She was legit offended that I referred to the camp community in the park next door to me as my neighbors. The lack of self-awarness was pretty staggering considering where we were when it was said.
