Durbin should have grabbed Grassley’s gavel and played keep away with it, making the old guy jump to grab it until he croaked from an infarction.

They already did it with Feinstein. Puppeting corpses is a time honored tradition in the US government.

It’s kind of double hypocrisy when you consider the fact that Reagan was well known to be completely mentally shut down by the end of his second term.

So congress is wasting tax payer money by hosting a meeting to bully an old cancer patient and private citizen.

Our government is as respectable as a your average conspiracy podcaster.

I thought this had to be old, because why the fuck would they be holding a hearing on this now when he’s not president? But no, that’s what they’re doing. Fucking Republicans.

It’s surely being done to appease the orange toddler as he wants Biden dragged through the courts as he was. Small problem is that either Bidens a much smarter criminal than Trump and didn’t leave any evidence, or he just wasn’t criminal enough to warrant charging.

The world would be so much better off if you just couldn’t be elected after a certain age.

Hypocrisy is the conservative way, though. The Canadian conservative party leader (but not actually an MP) got into politics saying if he were Prime Minister, he would enact a two-term limit (8 years) for all MPs.

He was an MP for 25 years until he lost his seat this spring. Ironically, one of his campaign slogans was ‘vote for change’. Upon the electorate voting for the change of their representative and him losing his seat, he then went to Alberta to steal another conservative MP’s seat, while also continuing to reside in the mansion for the official Leader of the Opposition in Parliament.

Well I guess I got one, maybe 2 elections to get a small time gov job lol. But I feel like voting should be cut off at 70 as well. There’s just too many things to go wrong with that, meaning “ok grandma it’s all filled out, just sign here” or old folks homes and stuff. We would have to enshrine SSA, and Medicare/Medicaid to protect them from attacks on benefits, but people that close to death shouldn’t be forcing their ancient views on society moving forward. It really doesn’t matter here though. We’re not getting another election, not without a fight.

Would be nice if we could mandate highly invasive and frequent cognition tests for our leaders past retirement age. Like, “surprise exam ya haggard bitch, pass this or you’re out with no pension or benefits!” Ideally conducted by some 3 agency’s door kicker team at 3AM on a Saturday, every Saturday.

No, old people don’t suck. Exceptionally powerful people who have have let the rot of a corrupt system sink into their bones suck.

Your age doesn’t matter. It’s your choices and how you live them that matter.

Thank you. Finding yet another scapegoat helps no one. The 1% is at fault.

I may be over 60, but I’m still on the correct side of the class war.

The 1% will do everything in their power (and that’s a lot) to distract us from the fact that it’s always been rich vs. poor. It’s a tale as old as society itself.

The working class is by far the largest intersectional group, so they want to keep us from organizing by dividing and conquering.

We can’t make stereotypical assumptions about anyone.

For example, I’m Christian, but I DO NOT support the right wing lunatics who are wearing the skin of Christianity to legitimize their entire evil dance routine, like some serial killer like Ted Bundy or Paul Bernardo. Anyone who acts evil should be called out for it, and have consequences for their actions also.

And any real Christian would know that we support the poor and the downtrodden, and that a rich man can’t make it into the kingdom of heaven.

            You seem to understand that

I am an atheist - without any hostility to the faithful of any religion. It is the character of the person’s morality that interest me. I am always willing to listen to and work with anyone with compassion for “the children of God”. Your faith is a matter between you and God. I am an ally.
