I just don’t get how people like Elon can achieve ego death twice a day and still be the world’s shittiest person. In my experience, psychedelics make most people better

I used to hang out in those terence mckenna spaces. Tripping balls doesn’t make you a good person, you make yourself a better person by putting in the effort. Unfortunately not everyone comes back equipped with the realization that they need to make life better for yourself and everyone else. In fact it could even have the effect of deeper entrenchment in whatever shit you happen to find yourself in.

I still love Terrance McKenna. I know he’s a bit of a weirdo, but he seemed like a pretty good leftist and he did preach doing the work and integrating the experience into your life.

Just like anything, too many people have the wrong takeaway, or are manipulative creeps

I used to go to a lot of psychedelic parties and there were a lot of creeps and manipulators in the scene. They were always the guys putting on this front of “peace and love” and the belief in the healing power of psychedelics.

Mostly sex pests, but also a couple wannabe cult leader types.

Unfortunately that seems to be pretty common. its a big reason I stopped going to festivals and concerts. There’s a really creepy vibe at those kinds of events these days. I’m sure a big part of the problem is I like boomer bands

Ketamine isnt known for that in the way that something like DMT is. Elon is just doing ketamine to relax and zone out, he’s not eating peyote with the NAC

I’ve done psychadelics like 10 tines in my life and I’ve had a good trip like 1.5 times (on shrooms). I think I’m just too clinically depressed for acid and most psychadelics

I think it is framing. All the times I have done them people have described them as bad trips to me. However, I have only positive feelings about the adventures. Like, the time I thought the thermostat was a giant spider was chill cause I realized that she was just vibin’ over there minding her business and I didn’t need to stress.

No matter how much psychs I’ve taken I’ve never thought my surroundings were different other than everything being covered in geometrics. I wouldn’t really call them adventures more like "oh wow I’m enlightened I guess’ and thats why I dont take them no more.

Everyone’s brain chemistry is different. Set and setting have a lot to do with it and so does your mental state going into it.

It’s also just one of those things that aren’t for everyone unfortunately. I do hope that eventually we start figuring out how to use them as a normal medicine because I feel like a lot of people can benefit from psychedelic drugs. Self medicating is dangerous and a total crap shoot

The first time I tried psychadelics (shrooms) was literally the only time I had a good trip, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

I’ve been chasing that high ever since and instead, I’ve gotten bad trips time after time to the point I can say I flat out do not like LSD and cannot even imagine how people can withstand an 8 hour battering ram on your brain.

Concentrated depression and rumination for 8 hours, it fucking sucks for me.

Imo shrooms go deeper but are easier to control the dose. LSD is not something you can identify on sight, so you never truly know what you’re getting until you start tripping. I’m on the wrong side of 35 to have a bunch of time for 12 hours down the rabbit hole. A gentle mushroom dose is a fantastic way for me to spend a day off cleaning and de-stressing

human history is littered with death by ignorance, this is no exception.

im reminded of when we had people using xrays for everyday nonsense like shoe size. or soo many mis-uses of lead.

Are anybof these people actually alone-alone? 'cause the other ChatGPT freak-outs seem to be from married dudes, doctors, well-off shit tech heads, etc… Is this happening to the poorest parts of the country and like most reporting they just don’t hear nor care about it? Or is this a bourgeois thing? I get people being lonely but it seems like these people are mostly only lonely in the sense that the other people close to them aren’t their slaves.
